Keep Your Day Job

OK...so modeling is not my calling in life, but I wanted to show off "Georgia On My Mind" my scarf design that has been published on www.crochetme.com. WooHoo!

I have dabbled in design for most of my life but have always been too random to follow the creativity with an actual pattern. This time I was able to follow my love for artistic expression and put that into pattern form for others to follow.
Who knows what my design future holds - but I can now honestly say that I am a "published" designer!

This morning Dr. Laura said it is cliche to give chocolate and roses for Valentines Day. For me, never having received these things, roses and chocolates were fabulous. For reasons I will not go into, this Valentines gift is more meaningful than anything I have recieved in years. I love you sweet JFM.

Hip Cat Rocks

OK, just a little bragging here - check out the new Hip Cat website www.hipcatdesigns.com for a glimpse of what is to come.

Don't ya love my really cool bag. I love Lexie Barnes, but Amy is a Lexie fanatic and I just love to be different. I fell in love with this bag when I first saw it on Namaste's website and I love it even more in person. It is called Vintage because it is a reproduction of a 1940's era knitting bag. It is way cool and even in Hip Cat pink.
It is HUGE so it holds large projects or several small ones. I am soooo hip and happening!

Happy Birthday To Me

I normally don't get too excited over birthdays. The passing of one more year just reminds me I'm getting older and things just don't work like they used to work. This year is an exception to that old rule. Great friends and a wonderful husband all contributed to making the 20th anniversary of my 29th birthday very memorable.

After a great few days of celebration with friends, the celebration culminated in a weekend away with DH in our favorite get away spot - Rockport, Texas. DH made reservations for us at a gorgeous hotel - The Lighthouse Inn - it is elegant, grown up and full of the kinds of ammenities that I have only dreamed about.

This was the view from our balcony;

Rocking chairs, perfect for reading, knitting, and sipping early morning coffee;

Plush robes to snuggle in after a hot shower.
It was as close to heaven as I have been in a long time. I needed to be refreshed and renewed. My DH knows that nothing does that for me like being close to the water. I don't swim, so it isn't about being in the water it is about seeing it, hearing it, and smelling it. I love the sound of seagulls screaming and I love the peace and beauty of sunrises and sunsets over the ocean. I would live there if I could, but since I can't, I settle for visiting. We really must do this more often. Room 69 at the Lighthouse Inn will be our room. Our escape when life gets to be too much and our souls need refreshment.

February WIP Report

In an attempt at project accountability, at the beginning of each month of 2007 I am going to report on the things on my hook. Here is my February list:

Sea Silk Sea Stitch Scarf/Wrap
Using one hank of Fleece Artist Sea Silk and a size F hook I am making a long rectangle that could block large enough in width to become a shoulder wrap.

Lacy Leaf Cocoon
This is from the spring '06 Interweave Crochet designed by Annie Modesitt. I have chosen to make it in Grace from Louisa Harding.

Sweet Pea Shawl

This is from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller and I am using Cotton Twist by Berroco.

It doesn't seem like much going on when I list things out like this; possibly because I have so many ideas swirling around in my mind I think I have more projects in the works than I really do. My brain is cluttered. And this is one of the things it is cluttered with - a beautiful Lampes Lump and 2 hanks of Nature Wool by Araucania. These are destined to be joined together in some kind of creation; I just don't know what that will be. Stay tuned.

Happy Hooking!
